Jack (48), has been married to Maggie (48), for over half his life. He works as a hand raker on the mussel beds in North Wales alongside his younger brother, Dyfan (43) and Dyfan's three sons. Jack has always assumed that his own boy, Tom (15), will join the family business on leaving school but Tom's disclosure that he has no desire to follow in his father's footsteps creates familial tension.
